I can't believe I'm not writting my birth story! I went in on 2/11 to be induced. Got there at about 7:15am and after all the admission paperwork and Dr. Marshall arrived to give instructions pitocin actually started at 10am or so. The bad news was when the Dr. checked me I was NOT dilated AT ALL. It's like I went backwards a little bit but I still had confidence that the pitocin would take effect and I'd dilate. I'd never had a problem with dilation with my other 3 kids so why would I have trouble now. I would be SOOOO wrong. Everyone was nice and everything but it just really felt like torture. Being hooked up to an IV, a blood pressure cuff AND the baby heart rate monitor + the contraction monitor and being confined to the bed can do a number on you. And it's not like you can just move around ON the bed, I had to be in a certain position or the baby's heart rate would dissapear and the nurse would have to come in and find him again. Anyway, a nurse checked me (she was not super experienced) and she could not reach my cervix but said she would have the Dr. in L&D check me once she was out of a csection. Dr. Nelson came in at about 1am, checked me....I can tell by the amount of reaching effort she was making that I was still waaay high up and probably not dilated. When she was done checking, she was like you are a "loose" 1cm BUT she was able to strip my membranes!! She was just like, we'll turn up the pitocin and see where that takes you. I was SO tired and hungry by then that I remembered what Dr. Marshall said. If no progress by the time they check me, stop pitocin take a break and eat. So that's what I did. I ate at 2am and I was starving! So did that, took a nice hot shower and slept sitting up cause I could not bear to lay down on my side anymore. on 2/12 I woke up, they started Pitocin, teased me with feeding me breakfast then said "nope sorry nevermind". Dr. Marshall came to check on me and told me that if I didn't dilate by the evening the only choice was c-section. I really didn't want that and I had hope that Day 2 would work. I was super uncomfortable all day again and hungry and tired (and bored). I could not believe this kid was just not coming! So the Dr. checked me at about 4pm but I just had a feeling nothing had happened...Serg and I discussed just doing c-section and he's SOOOO against it. He would have let me decide in the end but I know he would have hated me getting one. He still gets angry at the fact that I had one with Alexis. So we could have had our little one yesterday but I didn't want to do it with him not being happy about it so the Dr. called Dr. Marshall, asked him if they could discharge us and see if we can wait around for a few more days and see if he comes on his own. The Dr. returned a few minutes later and said that Dr. Marshall said we COULD go home but we have to go to NST on Thursday for monitoring AND go to Labor and Delivery on Sunday morning to have the baby. That basically means that if I'm NOT dilated anymore and they can't rupture my water bag when I arrive it's an automatic c-section. I'll be 40 weeks + 4 days. I will actually be overdue which is just crazy to me. I am wondering if this baby is different because of the Single Umbilical Artery issue they diagnosed me with at 16-17 weeks. Not sure but I just hope he's ok and remains ok until he decides to come. I slept really well last night. My right hand hurt soo bad yesterday from the IV and was really swollen but I took two tylenols for pain which helped a little bit. It's not swollen anymore which is good. Sergio took me to this Sushi teriyaki place for lunch and I practically licked the plate clean. I had shrimp and veggie tempura, white rice, fried chicken strips w/teriyaki, small salad, and 4-5 sushi rolls. SOOO good. Then we went to walmart to walk a little and get some TP and I got some caramel popcorn cause I wanted something sweet. I ate a little too much of it but it was good. Then for dinner (i should have skipped it since we had a late lunch) we had green chile small pork ribs, some spanish rice and beans. I had a bad heartburn when I woke up because I fell asleep on the couch about 40 min after eating so I had to take a tums and proped myself up with a few pillows to get more sleep. Status as of this morning, I have throbbing feeling down below and I keep having BM which means I was backed up! When I went to wipe I saw a huge glob of my MP. Soooo gross I kinda freaked out which is weird being that I was expecting to see it last week....but now with the failed inductions and all the expectations I had beforehand, I'm just really NOT expecting things to happen as they should. I remembered again that Dr. Nelson actually stripped my membranes early yesterday morning so MAYBE just maybe that actually did do something and I will start dilating on my own soon. Plus, Dr. mentioned that Dr. marshall said that the 2 days on pitocin may have actually helped soften/prepare things a little more than they would have otherwise on their own. We are going off for a nice long walk in an hour or so to see if walking will help. I actually feel so much more tender down there and I feel like I am actually walking like a pregnant person which has not been the case this whole pregnancy for the most part. Here's hoping for another VBAC in the next few days, if not on Sunday! Regardless my son will be born by 2/17/12.
At my last 39 week Dr. appt I went in there with assurance that I had indeed dilated and THIS time the doc would be able to strip my membranes and the baby would have been delivered for SURE this weekend. That would not be the case. I was only 1 fingertip dilated making membrane sweep impossible but I did make a little progress with effacing from 50% last week to 70%. My induction date was scheduled for 2/11 and I just had this strong feeling that I would not make it to that day. Well here we are and this is the last time I will be waking up pregnant....on 2/11. I am going in to Labor and Delivery at 7:30am. I am not sure what I'm feeling right now. I've always said that "birth day" is my very favorite day. I get to meet my new son, and I will be back to "normal". I'm actually a little bit scared which I really wasn't with Gabriel. I think it was because I had such a miserable pregnancy with him and no amount of pain I was up against could be worse that all the things I went through with him. This has been a great pregnancy....the end was harder because of contractions and such but I can't really complain toooo much. I missed church the past few weeks and that was just because I could not bear sitting there going through contractions and people constantly asking "WHEN WHEN WHEN"....so annoying. Anyway, I'm getting ready to head out now. I'm hoping this baby will be no more than 8 1/2 pounds but we shall see. The past few weeks I really felt him fatten up. I wasn't so great at keeping my weight under control these past 2 weeks. I think I am up to about 245. The limit I had set for myself was 241. Close enough but still makes it 40 pounds gained. That's quite a bit. I hope I come out 25 pounds lighter!! Ok out!
So at my appt. on Thursday Dr. wasn't able to strip my membranes because I was not dilated at all. I was actually pretty shocked that I wasn't because when I was pregnant with Gabriel and Dr. sent me to labor and delivery due to preeclampsia I was already dilated to 4cm at 38+3 so I expected to be at LEAST 1 cm. Anyway, I was bummed but I am 50% effaced, said my cervix was SUPER soft and that my placenta is at the point where it looks ready to be done. I was dissapointed but not to the point where I went home and cried my eyes out like I would have with Gabriel. I was actually pretty good. Serg & I went to Shakey's buffet and enjoyed a nice lunch (I only gained 1 pound, weight = 241 now). My last day of work was on Friday so it's nice to know that tomorrow I don't have to get up early and get ready for work. I can go and come as I please which is nice! Yesterday (Saturday) me and the hubs went to some yard sales. There was not too much good stuff so we only got a few things then we went to breakfast at Mr. Pete's and came home to pick up the kids as we decided I should get in a good long walk to hopefully get things progressing. It looks like something worked because it seems like some white tissue like stuff has been coming out. My contractions have been stopping me in my tracks but are very very sporadic. I keep thinking back to when my water broke with Alani and how many weeks/days I was when it happened and trying to think back to Dr. appts and all that but the truth of the matter is, each baby is different and he'll come when he's ready. SOOOO, my next Dr. appt is on 2/7 which is Thursday and he's going to try and strip my membranes again on that day and he scheduled my induction for 2/11 (Monday 7am). I am secretly praying that I don't make it to Thurs. but again, we'll see. If I do I think I'll go into labor on Saturday maybe?? I'm grasping at straws here lol. I am going to call Veronica (my Dr's nurse) tomorrow to make sure she got my Dr's note to book my induction and will ask her if she can keep an eye on 2/8 (Friday) to see if any mom's that were scheduled for an induction on that day happened to have their babies and I can get squeezed in somehow. My Dr. was going to have me come in for induction on the 8th but there was no open spots so I have to wait till Monday. Sigh...I just want to meet him at this point. Any way, watching the Super Bowl right now waiting for Alexis and Serg to get home from church. I stayed home with the kids as they were napping and I feel like I keep peeing myself. I keep thinking I'm loosing my mucus plug completely or that my water is about to break but NADA. I'll update later this week with increased symptoms I hope.
Went to my Dr. appt today (1 day early-rescheduled due to having to go into office tomorrow) and baby is weighing about 6 lbs 7oz. (if I'm not mistaken) and he's actually smaller than I thought! I REALLY need to go back and look at Gabriel's ultrasounds although I don't think I was as good about writting down his weight on the ultrasound images the Dr. would print out for me as I was with Alani since I got pregnant pretty close of when Alani was born. Anyway I gained like 2 pounds, was 240.6 so it's more like 2.4 cause last week I was 238.2. I need to stay away from that mexican sweet bread plus I've been eating something at night every night. I wake up super hungry and can't go back to sleep unless I have some cereal or slice of bread with peanut butter. I need to watch it this week not really cause I care about gaining another pound or two but because I don't want him to get so big these last couple of weeks. Next week I'll be 38 weeks and Dr. is going to rupture my membranes. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!! He said usually after he does that women go into labor within 48 hours. That means that he would be here like on Saturday 2/2 which I think is Super Bowl sunday. I told my husband that would be kinda cool cause we'd be watching the game at the hospital and we could just chill there. I think I'd be able to go home on Monday. But you know what they say about plans. If the membrane sweep doesn't work though I think he'll be born more on the 8th or 9th which would be the next week (at 39 weeks). Alani was born at 39 weeks 3 days but my water actually broke at 39 weeks 2 days and I was pretty healthy with her like I am now with this one so I don't think Dr. will push for induction at my 39 week appt (2/7). I think he'll let me go until baby is ready then will talk about induction IF I was to make it to my due date on 2/14. I really don't think so. I told Serg that I feel like my water bag is bulging when I go to the bathroom. He told me I better pack my bag and doesn't think I'll make it to next week's appt. for some reason. I think he's just getting really excited. I'm suree I'll make it till next week's appt. Whenever he IS born, I'm still excited and can't wait to see him! I'm in the home stretch!
I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and considered full term. I came into the office today because we have an important meeting plus it's my last week coming into the office which seems so weird! I'll be here again on Thursday (instead of Wed) since my co-workers are throwing me a lunch/baby shindig which is nice. I work with mostly men so one of the only girls here actually organized it. Not sure I'll be getting any baby gifts but lunch is good enough AND I already have everything praise the Lord. God is good and we saw Him make himself so obviously there for us and we don't deserve it. Not at all. We re-committed to getting to spend more time with Him all week and we plan to start ASAP. We went out to Five Guys burgers last night and Gabriel wanted to read from his kids bible story books after dinner when we got home so we read Adam and Eve. We always kid that he's the most spiritual one at home which is sad because he's only 6. At the table (dinner or lunch) he's always like "ok let's give blessings". We talked about needing to get into our bible reading/studying more so his appetite for the Lord stays with him. So I'm waiting for my Dr. to contact me, I have an appt. scheduled for Thurs. but since I'll be here in Westlake Village I can't be in Harbor City too. I have an NST appt. too so I'll need to reschedule that as soon as I know when they can fit me in. Dr. is supposed to measure and give me baby weight estimate this week. I'm hoping he hasn't gotten too big but this weekend I had THE worst stomach/belly button pain that I could not even bend over or stand for a long time. Supposedly the pain is from muscles stretching/tearing so I'm thinking he grew. I control my sugars when I know what they are. Sometimes I try and avoid taking my blood sugar cause when I KNOW they are high I panic. I've been taking them pretty frequently these past couple of days after meals especially so I've been spending some time on the elliptical as well to try and get my high numbers down. I am on 90 NPH insulin before bed, like 22 R insulin before lunch and about 18 R before dinner. I have to keep increasing it like every 2 days. Weight was 238 last Thursday (1/17) @ Dr's office which was the same weight from 1/10 and I weighed myself yesterday on my scale and I don't think I have gained any. My scale is wacky like I've mentioned so I'm really just counting on what the Dr's scale reads. I'll come back and update with Dr's prediction of baby weight and my weight gain for this week...yikes.
I had a Dr. appt yesterday and I was terrified because my BMI scale showed a 7 or 8 pound weight gain from 12/5 to 1/2/13 so I thought I'm in big trouble with Dr. I usually try to wear THE lightest clothing possible lol to minimize the weight gain on the scale but I wear the same things over and over again, mainly the skirts with different tops but still...so yesterday I wore my Old Navy dress again that I wore out for my birthday cause it was already ironed and it's super comfortable. I put my hair up in a ponytail and straightened it. Weight on scale actually only showed a 4 pound weight gain which is exactly on point (1 pound per week gain). The Dr. said he was "surprised" being that it was the holidays and everyone was coming in with larger than normal weight gain so that God! My appointments are now weekly though so I REALLY need to be good and I have an NST appt. today at 4pm. He weighed the baby and he said he was 5 pounds 2 oz which is very much on point. I told him about the weight "estimate" he had given me with Gabriel and that he ended up weighing 2 1/2 more pounds than he had estimated...he said something interesting and I think I actually read it somewhere..he said our weight "estimate" at 34 weeks is actually the last "actual" baby estimate they can give. Anything past 34 weeks could be off by 2 pounds SO if I keep my sugars in check and my eating in check from now until I give birth the baby SHOULD weigh about 8 pounds 4oz or so. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. He would be my smallest baby which should be an easier delivery. I am going to try hard (as I think back to the 1/4 of a meatball sandwich for breakfast....it was SOOOO good though). My sugars were 96 fasting this AM but I got up at 3am and had a cookie and some milk because baby was going nuts. My sugars were prob low...he usually gets up when they are really low or really high. Serg and the kids went up to Big Bear/San Bernardino Mountains yesterday with Chanton where Alexis is at Winter Camp and they had a ball. This was the first time they had been in the snow so they were SO excited when they got back home they were all talking at the same time about how cool it was. I hope we can go back at least one more time before the baby is born when there is more snow so they can enjoy themselves. Not so sure though because I know time is going to FLY by. I was home yesterday just working. I cleaned up after work, folded clothes, made myself some hot wings for dinner with rice and maccaroni and cheese (my Dr. appt days are my days off-cheat days). I watched a few episodes of The First 48 and a Criminal Minds with Alani. I slept on her bed with her for a few hours cause Sergio was knocked out on our bed and was so tired he was snoring LOUD. Their new bed is firm so I eventually came to my own bed. My alarm clock is off 1/2 hour so I got up and clocked in to work late...oh well. So this week I'm going to work out everyday and try to be really good with eating. I don't want to gain any weight this week or just a minimal amount of weight...like 1/2 a pound vs. 1 pound since I'm a little over..I was reading the "weight gain" guidelines yesterday and for 34 weeks it says I should have gained 21-27 pounds and I think I've gained 29. It's not a big deal at all because this is the smallest amount of weight I have gained with ANY of my kids but I do want to try hard to eat healthy and work out to keep my sugars on the lower end. One thing I did notice was that my blood pressure was a little high when the nurse first took it, it was 136 over something...she retook it though and it went down to 123 or something like that. So I need to lay off the salt too and I'll probably take 3 BP pills at each meal time to keep it in check. We'll see. Ok well boring post but wanted to document... Hospital tour is coming up soon! Next Tues!!
I am officially 33 weeks preggo as of yesterday and on my 37th birthday. It was such a strange but great birthday. I got so many "Happy Birthdays" from Facebook (since they do remind all your friends and all) and for those not on Facebook I got lots of calls/texts. My sisters, both Nancy and Lorena, my mother, Sis in law and mother in law....friends from church. It was cool. Alani drew me two pictures and taped 4 quarters to the pictures which was cute. That was the only money she had in her new Hello Kitty coin purse and she gave it to me. I wanted to give it back but I figured she'd ask me for change for the church vending machines for her beloved Hot Cheetos at some point lol. My husband got me two presents. Pearl earrings (I have real pearl earring finally at 37 years old he he) and my Gio perfume (purple one) which I had run out of a couple of months ago. I was actually pretty shocked cause we usually don't make a big deal about birthdays (I mean for the kids we do). Then he took me out to dinner. I wore my long blue-teal/black stripped Old Navy maternity dress that use to look cute on me before my large large belly came into place. I mean, I got home and looked in the mirror before changing and thought "I don't look THAT big" but I can tell I have a large belly cause people stare at you. I never really forget that I'm pregnant but when I'm shopping or just walking around I do...then I get that feeling that someone is peering at me from somewhere...I look up and sure enough.... I hope I don't stare at pregnant ladies when I am not preggo. If I do I am a changed woman....cause I can sympathize. You wonder....what are they thinking?? Like WHOA look at HER? I guess I'll never know. Anyway, we were going to go to Souplantation but I can't seem to control my eating at "all you can eat places" as of late and since my blood sugar has been SO out of control this past week and a half I thought we'd just head on over to Super Mex where I can get in some sort of veggies..I got grilled chicken fajitas w/rice and beans but I somehow managed to eat all 4 tortillas they gave me instead of just my limit of 2. Seriously, I didn't even realize I had eaten them all. I ate my WHOLE plate plus chips and salsa. When I was done I sighed and Serg said "I was wondering if you were going to stop or eat the whole thing" then I said "wow, I'm so full....I know!! Remember when I would only eat half??" reflecting back to my weight loss/workout days and where I had self control.... Then I said "it's ok I'll be back there in no time". I officially have 7 more weeks to go. Since I usually have my kids 1 week early, I'm hoping at the very most 6. I am still waiting for my maternity paperwork to be mailed in and I'm starting to get nervous because Kaiser takes like 3 weeks or so to complete disability paperwork and my last day I decided was going to be 2/1 which is a Friday. That gives me about a week roughly to be off work and no baby. With Gabriel, he was born about 2 weeks early because I was starting to show signs of pre-eclampsia. From reading my blog when I was pregnanct with him, my previous appt. with Dr. started to show signs of protein in my urine but the next weekly appt. he didn't even take me into his office. The urine test you give the nurse at the beginning of the appt. showed even more urine so he sent me straight to the hospital. I think I was 38 weeks...and the protein spill started at 37 weeks and at that he was 9lbs 14 oz. I can't imagine what he would have weighed at 40 weeks! That's what has really scared me this time and I've really been working hard at getting my high blood sugars down after meals is I DO NOT want to have another very large baby. Recovery time from Gabriel was tough. This week though I have to say I feel like I've actually gained FAT. Not baby FAT but fat...my upper legs are looking mighty chubby and when I tried on my green sweat pants I looked totally pudgy so I actually changed out of them...I didn't think I was going to feel like that until like 36-37 weeks :-( My fault though I've been eating waaaay too much junk and sweets and I should not be. I have one more week to go before my Dr. Appt (on Wed) and I limited myself to 4 pounds weight gain and I've already gained the 4 pounds as of Monday....so this week was "Maintain weight" week and "Workout week". I feel myself barely hanging in there for those 10-15 minutes at a time and I am really starting to feel so much more sleepy. Right now I think my weight is at about 234..trying to stick to 241 MAX at birth. This week overall I'm just starting to feel much bigger, weight wise not just belly wise so I'll try and keep that in check. Tiredness has kicked in. Oh I got Gabriel's room partially preped for baby crip. Baby clothes are washed and now I just have one more load of baby clothes to fold. Serg was supposed to build the crib today which I was in no hurry to do so but he went somewhere with Chanton and took Alexis candy selling. She wants to go to Winter camp and that will be money used for that. Ok well I guess that's it. Until later, God Bless.
After new Years 2012 I started my weight loss journey and lost almost 50 pounds. Then on June 8th I found out I was expecting baby #4. I am now 31 weeks along....and time has really flown by. I should have a new baby by the end of next month or early Feb and it's a little bit surreal. I have eaten lots of junk this pregnancy but not all day everyday and I have consistently worked out my entire pregnancy which I have NEVER done...like ever. My last pregnancy I documented here on my blog and from the looks of things I was pretty miserable. I gained what looks to be about 50 pounds. I didn't document my actualy weight gain but from piecing things together thats about how much I gained it really looks like I wanted that baby out by now. This pregnancy has been MUCH more pleasant and I think it's because I have really worked out and eaten a healthier diet. Right now I am on 61 units of NPH insulin at bedtime and on 10 Regular insulin before lunch. I am thinking I need to go up soon because my fasting numbers are creeping up to the 100's again. The only other thing I can really complain about is some sciatic nerve pain down my lower back and right leg, leg cramps at night and just being HUNGRY at night. The earlier I go to bed the safer I am. My weight gain: I am at about 232-233 as of today. My last Dr. weigh in was 231 and that was last week. I think I'm more 232 because I had Panda Express last night so scale read 233.8. I'll re-weigh tomorrow. I've been working out for 1-2 hours a day for 3 days straight. I took a workout break after last Wednesdays Dr. Appt. I usually eat crappy for 2 to 3 days after my appt. then I'm more strict for 1 to 1 1/2 weeks before my next appt. lol.. My start weight was 205 so I have gained a total of.... 27 pounds and I OFFICIALLY have 9 more weeks to go. So if I allow myself to gain the "1 lb per week allowance" I will be at 36 pounds gained = 241 which will STILL be almost 10 pounds LESS than what I was NOT PREGNANT at this exact time last year. Crazy considering I will probably have an 8-9 pound child in my stomach, extra blood volume, placenta and everything else that is in there pregnancy-related. I am praying to God that I lose about 25 pounds right off the bat. That would leave me with only 11 pounds to lose before I get back to 205. THAT would be excellent!! My next Dr. Appt is on Jan 2nd and I'll be 34 weeks. I believe I start my NST appts at that time which will be twice a week according to my Dr. We are getting excited and nervous at the same time!!
Oh man it's been a while since I posted! I'm starting again. I still haven't been able to lose weight after my son was born almost 5 years ago! It's been a loooong time and it sure flew by. My oldest daughter is joining me on this quest and I think it's great that she's made a committment with her mom to make this change.
I know I've contributed to all of my kids bad eating habits and I feel so super guilty. They started school and I'm hoping that this will give us some stability and help us get back into a routine!
I'm logging all my foods into Calorie Tracker as I KNOW this will help me to stay accountable for the foods I eat. To start out as well I am measuring my foods to make sure I don't think that 2 cups of something isn't counted as 1 cup (we lie to ourselves that way). Anyway, I'm going to measure myself as well to try and stay motivated. If I had the money I'd join this personal training place. It's not really a one on one training place, but their personal trainers work with 3-4 people at the same time. There is another Boot Camp place that is cheaper but there are more like 10-15 if not more people per trainer. There's no way they can keep track of that many people. If I am going to pay hundreds of dollars I want them to be in my face and hold me accountable. Sounds like I want them to babysit me but sometimes, that's what it takes. I don't habe the funds to fork out that extra cash right now so I'm on my own. My husband set up all my workout equipment, we have lots of bikes and a bike path we can ride on so I have 0 excuses. I just need to make the move.
I only work 2 days in the office so I get off early enough to where I can squeeze in a workout, clean my house and start cooking a healthy dinner.
Right now, I'm trying to cook up some good recipes that we'll all eat. Cut out all the junk for now, no chips, bread only once a day (either with a breakfast sandwich or sandwich for lunch). 2 tortillas MAX for dinner. My kids are just starting to get their tastebuds acclimated to LOTS of veggies and fruits. This week is basically DETOX week.
I'm trying to get closer to God as well. I know He can help us stay focused if we stay focused on Him.
God Bless,
Bertha
So....I've only lost 5 pounds since my weight loss venture to loose 20 pounds in 35 days. This comes with about at LEAST 10 different events I've attended including BBQ'a, festivities or some sort and lots of cake! I think I've given in to the cake eating 2-3 times. I've eaten at restaurants as healthy as possible, sometimes not caring....lots of bad days, good happy days. This weekend I went on YouTube and looked up some "bootcamp" workouts to try and try to get away from 232lbs and today was day 1. I was supposed to start Saturday then Saturday turned into Sunday but (yes BUT) I cooked Friday and Sunday for church. I ate cake Saturday night from just being in a rotten mood and Sunday I made myself some "Mother's day nachos" which were just so super good. Better than your average mexican restaurant...anyway enough of that. It was my turn to cook for RU - so I made about 100 flatas, 2 trays of rice, 2 trays of beans, guacamole, salsa and all the other fixings like sour cream. I ate two flatuas, 2 choco chip cookies, little bit of rice and some beans. On Sunday morning it was my turn to make breakfast so I made chilaquiles, refried beans, and fried eggs and fresh salsa. Yes I had some. Sunday night the Lazo's had a BBQ after church and I had a hot dog wrapped in bacon (no bun), a hot link, a carne asada burrito with stir fried bellpeppers, onion and avocado wrapped in a wheat tortilla. It was good....and a small cup of sprite. I didn't weigh in on Monday, I ate healthy all day and worked out this morning.
This Friday is the banquet and only 5 pounds lost instead of the 20 I was aiming for. The only thing I can say that is good out of this is that I have lost this weight VERY slowly and it's sorta good because I don't seem to gain too much when I do cheat. Just need to give it a day to drop it off and I can continue on. The only really bad negative when cheating is that my mood swings are HORRIBLE. I'm like all over the place. So I need to eat healthy to stay sane and not so emotional.
If my period if going to be normal (on a 28 day schedule) like all the other normal people, I am supposed to get it on Saturday. I hope I don't get it on Friday (banquet night) but I'll be prepared nonetheless.
Well I am hoping that I can lose several pounds this week at least so that my face is not super puffy for the banquet picture...I'm praying for a 5 pound loss but I think that will ONLY happen if I do 2-3 hours of workouts per day and not sure that I'm going to have time for that. We'll see. God bless.
Not sure if it's really day 23....need to check my calendar at work. So I haven't made much progress. I've been eating healthy 99% of the time but I think the one meal that I have "off plan" really seems to throw me off. I had an off meal last night at RU. It was our 3rd year anniversary and we had .50cent tacos. Thank God we were helping with serving etc. otherwise I would have eaten more. I also brought a piece of cake home that I was planning on eating but my 3 yeal old son beat me to it and he ate it for me. He walked into my room with white frosting around his mouth while I was changing into my comfy clothes and thinking that I was going to eat the cake with a big glass of milk. he left me crumbs and I ate them lol.
So I've been struggling with one thing in particular but I can't really type it out here.God knows what it is and it's really starting to take over my mind and I wish it would just dissipate. I wish I could lose weight and be at peace. I'm going to continue with my eating habits (good ones) and keep losing weight. I'm going to keep praying and try to listen to God's advice for me and how to overcome my struggles.
I am hoping that at the end of the month I'm able to go visit my family in San Jose. My sister wants me to go I just hope I can get some money to replace my tires, brakes and have gas money. The building banquet is coming up as well and I am praying that we can come up with the money to pay what we owe on my 401K so that I can get a new loan and give some of that money to the banquet.
House is quiet right now, my husband is hopefully going to bible college and he's at the church now working on a bus route. When you are a bible college student you are required to work on a bus route. He already does some other stuff so not sure if he'll be required to take on additional routes.
I need to trust God on this and pray that my job continues to provide for us and that he help me not grow weary. I'm going to keep praying for confidence and pray that I can develop a closer relationship with him. Seems like we've grown apart some, like we are not as interested in each other as we use to be. I'm talking about my husband here.....all the other stuff applies to God too except that I know God is still interested in using me. I know he'll never give up on me. I pray that I am more like Him.
God bless....
Day 10 and I have nothing to show for it except an increase in weight that is! I weighed in this AM at 239.6! That is like 4.6 pounds TOO many. I weighed in on saturday to a measely 234.8 which was only .2 pounds less and I was already dissapointed about that. BUT, my body fat was down to 46% which tells me that I am retaining water. The reason is that I have not taken my blood pressure meds all weekend. I worked out on Saturday, took the dogs for a nice walk and jogged with Baloo. Had my usualy light breakfast, I did have a few (like 6) small peices of potatos but I've done that before. We bought lunch but my hubby made a special trip to a seafood restaurant to buy me ceviche which is fish/shrimp cooked in lemon with chopped tomato, cilantro and onion. I had tostadas with it but nothing out of my "allowance". They had Taco Bell. Then for dinner, I had a babyshower to go to, El Torito, I had a few (literally) chips and salsa, not a deal breaker. Then I ordered Tortilla Soup! Everyone had these HUGE platters but I was satisfied and happy that I chose the best thing on the menu AND I didn't even finish it. Sunday, I had a one egg omelette with like 2 peices of bell peppers and onions. I said NO CHEESE, NO SAUSAGE and opted for 3 straberries and a banana. Dinner was 2 grilled eggs, beans (no fat) and 2 grilled pcs. of ham (the Costco LEAN HAM) has .5 grams of fat and 1 carb. So to wake up to such a gain I might as well should have pigged out! But, I am sure it will all fall off by Tues.
I asked God to help me with this. It's hard staying motivated and I know that this weight may not be falling off as easily, even though I've started to work out because I am no longer focusing on my weight for health reasons. My focus has shifted to losing weight for looks and for "fitting into" clothes. Although that is nice and everything, I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to FEEL good about the way you look, it should not be the main focus. So I think that if I refocus on WHY I started to eat better and not concentrate so much on weight and how much i've lost, I'll regain my perspective. I'm thinking I should stop weighing but I think I need to pray about that. Maybe I will move to weighing in once or twice a week. Maybe Tuesdays and Saturdays?
I came in this morning, worked out and then clocked in. I only walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes though. I need to start getting here earlier to work out LONGER otherwise, lugging all this stuff to work for 15 minutes work outs is NOT worth it. I may just need to switch to working out at lunch and just change into my gym clothes and back. We'll see.
Well that's it for now, I need to get back to work. God Bless.
I didn't weigh yesterday because on Wednesday night (date night) I had a patty melt with fries. I just felt like I "deserved" a cheat meal. I've been eating a tortilla here and a little sugar in my coffee there. I need to watch that because that's when I start easing up on the rules.
I weighed this morning and I am up to 235.4. Body Fat was at 47.5%. I worked out for about 35 minutes yesterday morning and I am sore today. I came into work early again and worked out early as well but only for 15 minutes. I had to jump in the shower and I didn't want to come out all crazy looking when more people started to come in so I just cut it short. I'm MAKING myself walk on the treadmill again at 10am. I'll just walk for 10 minutes so I don't get all sweaty.
Since I come home early today I'm going to take the dogs for a walk as my "third" workout. I am buying a treadmill from my co-worker for $30. Not sure what it looks like but I don't think I can buy a cheaper treadmill. I mean at least for now, I wasn't going to buy one at all but I think I need one for those days where I just can't work out at work or go for a walk with the dogs.
So I am hoping that tomorrow I weigh in and I drop 2.4 pounds. I gave myself 35 days to lose 20 pounds which is basically 4 pounds a week. I lost 2 pounds over the weekend LAST weekend so I am hoping the same happens cause I'm behind! I need to loose 2.4 pounds by tomorrow! Otherwise the pressure is going to be on to loose more than 4 pounds the other weeks. I need to go to a calorie counter place because I am either not eating enough foods or indulding too much. We'll see....
That's it for today. I plan to get up semi early tomorrow and go for a long walk again with the dogs. Pray for me that I see 233 on that scale soon! I want to be OUT of the 230's already! God Bless.
The plan was to go home and walk the dogs. I was desperately looking forward to doing SOME sort of exercise. My husband called me when I was almost off work and asked me to stop by and grab some pork spare ribs. It's on my way home so I did. I got home, got the cooking going and changed into my sweats & Tshirt and was going to throw on my tennis shoes. My hubby was taking a shower when I got there and was calling me. I went into the bathroom and he was trying to shampoo Gabriel's hair but told me that his hand was killing him and didn't know why it was hurting so bad. He can't make a fist and the pain radiates to his back and arm if he moves a certain way. I just made him an appt for this morning. I've been worried about him lately. He was realllly tired the other day and he didn't know why. I was reading up on "arm" and "hand" pain on the internet and everything said "call your Dr. immediately as these are signs of a stroke" and now that I am putting 2 and 2 together I am getting more worried about him.
So, we were going to go to church and go soulwinning but by the time they got out of the shower and I was done cooking, it was 7:15pm and things start at 7pm so we just stuck it out at home. I didn't work out and we watched a movie. Alexis brought Cora in the house and she just laid on the couch between Sergio and Alexis....didn't look like she felt good. I could not hang watching the movie so I went to bed and later heard Sergio talking about Cora throwing up. She starting not to be able to hold her water and food down. I think she finally was starting to give up. Today, Serg called me and told me she died. I'm actually upset because I was REALLY hoping that she would live. Her symptoms just started on Sunday and it only took 3 days for her to die. Hate Parvo! It's so horrible.
So we are back to having our 2 dogs. Need to appreciate them and be good to them. They love us and are such babies.
On a lighter note, sheesh! I worked out at our work gym for the first time today. I did not come in early as I planned but tomorrow I come in early cause I want to leave early as scheduled and I am gonna REALLY try to be here early so I can get in my workout. Florence also wants to work out at lunch so I am gonna work out with her at lunch as well. I think working out will help my increasing appetite.I ate too many fruits and one too many tortillas. I overindulged on healthy foods too. Funny how that can happen. Today is the first day that I've felt like eating a Snickers. I think because of the stress of all this. Gonna go home and jog. I need it as a stress reliever. Weight this AM was not good. I was at 235.4 I think with 48% body fat. Not sure if my body is now fluctuating because I am off the hormone meds? Not really making a big deal out of it. My body and things are adjusting so I have to give it at least 3-4 more days. Throwing in the workouts will REALLY help.
I'm off to go home now. Till later. God Bless.
Post from 4/13/10
Ok so I am being lazy and just stating what "day" I am for my blog title for the day. I am usually in a hurry when writting on here. Even when I am on my lunch I'll start to work or do something else...anyway...so this will be a quick post. I am pretty busy at work and I feel like I have barely made a ding in my workload for the past week. I guess I can say I have not been as focused lately. I haven't really cared for working overtime although it would be nice because I have the work and I need the money.
I went home yesterday and didn't do anything because I went to my OB and he ended up taking out my IUD. He also took me off Provera which I am super scared about because that seemed to have helped with the crazy bleeding I was experiencing.
I felt hungry which I haven't felt in a while and I sorta had a headache. I started to take Metformin again because I felt that maybe since this has helped with my bleeding as well in the past and I'm off Provera it might regulate me a bit? Just a guess.
Weight this AM was 234.8 but my body fat went up to 48%. Not sure what's that all about?
That's it God Bless!
My poor Ugly Betty died on Saturday. I had two puppies born in November that we were sorta attached to from the liter of 8 Peanut had with my Baloo but Ugly Betty was going to my mother in law's house. She really gravitated to her when she came to visit even though she was such an ugly puppy. We really thought she was going to die because she was the runt and she was soo much smaller than the other dogs. She was short but stubby and such a gentle dog. She was adventurous which is what got her in trouble. She got out of our yard several times and didn't have all her parvo shots so she got parvo and went downhill quickly. We tried to save her but it was too late. She died on the way to the vet on Saturday afternoon. Now we are trying to make sure Cora stays healthy. She was showing parvo signs yesterday but we've been giving her antibiotics, pedialyte to keep her hydrated and a high caloric gel as a nutrition supplement as she won't eat much on her own. The vet said the key to getting them through Parvo is too keep them hydrated and their nutrition up. She looks MUCH better today and we are keeping a very close eye on her.
Weight Loss update - Day 3 of 35 (reminder, my goal is to loose 20 pounds in 35 days, not 33 as previously stated)
So weight loss related. I was very active all weekend and since making my decision to lose 20 pounds in 35 days I have really tried to scale back on the EVOO on my salads and the cheeses. I was creative this weekend and made myself some brocoli slaw meatball soup. I threw in some green beans and flavored it a bit using tomato paste, pepper and some sea salt. I usually wait until things are cooked to add sea salt. Anyway, had a weight drop of 2 pounds this weekend which was great! My body fat is at 47.5% again. It had gone up on Saturday then went back down but I think it's still .5% higher than it was Friday morning. Weight is at 235 now and can't wait to get to 229! I hope that with my increased workouts I will continue to drop weight like this! They were unintentional workouts too, just out with my dogs, out with my family being active. So here is a summary (I had to do this for myself):
Official start date: 3/30/10 - 244 pounds - 48.5% body fat
Weight on 4/03/10 - 239.6 - not sure body fat
Weight on 4/05/10 - 237.2 - 48%
Weight on 4/07/10 - 237.2 - 47%
Weight on 4/09/10 - 237 - 47%
Weight on 4/12/10 - 235 - 47.5%
Pounds left to loose before 5/14 = 18
Loss since start = 11 pounds
I think I am going to start setting monthly goals. My goal for the month is to loose 20 pounds. It's a bit unrealistic maybe, BUT with workouts I think that I can actually achieve this. I just need to put together a schedule with my new schedule. I was going to buy a treadmill but I am going to wait until I actually become more active. The workout room at work is apparantly not yet open but will be open on Monday! I spend ALOT of time here at work so I am scheduling two 20 minute worksouts on my breaks and 15 minutes of my lunch will be spend in there as well. I am just going to AT LEAST make that commitment till May 13th....which makes that 33 days!
I feel so fat though. It's funny cause one minute I feel slimmer and the next I get a glimpse of myself in a window reflection or a long mirror and feel like I am "doing this" in vain. I only started recently but my thinking is so much sacrifice for such a slow payoff. Need to work on this mentality and seek God for everything.
Today I have RU and Serg is going to Arizona to help his mom move. I need to purchase several things to keep me going which is a veggie peeler. I have no idea what happened to mine. I also need some glass containers. I hate heating stuff up in plastic containers. I was going to say I "need" a wood plastic bowl to mix my salad but that's not really a need and I have tons of bowls. I actually just made a really nice one available that's from Pier 1 imports. I was using it as a knick knack holder but it's now ready to be used.
This weekend I am also going to have to cook foods for the week. I am trying new recipes weekly. I am going to try and mix up 2-3 different types of foods throughout the week. I am going to make it basic and set it up so that I keep this thing do-able.
God Bless for now.My stats as of today.
Weight: 237
My scale BMI: 47% (started at 48.5%, then went down to 47.5% two days ago and now 47%). Only lost .2 pounds in 4 days :-(
When I first started to eat healthier...which was only one week ago I thought I was going to be able to start doing this....but I've had times of doubt a few times but only for quick seconds... I tell myself this is NOT temporary. I mean, this is a "healthier eating" like no other because my thinking is, this is the way I have to eat forever. Processed food is something my body can't process. All these years I've know that I should probably just eat healthy/organic but I've always said that I could not afford it. It's actually a lot cheaper for me! On saturday I cleaned out all my cupboards. I do have sugar and flour and stuff but that's for chuch baking/functions and my husband likes homemade cookies. I know later I can start to figure out what stuff is good for baking that I can have. Right now, my concentration is not what sweets I CAN eat or how I can prepare something sweet for me to eat. I am learning what FOODS to cook for myself and what snacks are do-able on my crazy schedule.
I went to an outdoor market where I can get fresh organic fruit and veggies for cheap. I got 2 eggplant, 6 zucchinis, 6 yellow squash, green onions, jalapenos, 6 cucumbers, tomatos, apricots, plums, grapes and a few other things for $11! Can't beat that. I grilled most of the veggies this weekend on the grill, brushed them with some EVOO and Balsamic vinaigrette and some organic seasonings and they are SUPER good.
I started to weigh myself. I wasn't at first, I guess I was skeptical that cutting flour and sugar but eating all this other stuff would help me to lose weight. Like all there other overweight people this is like my um-teenth attempt. Anyway, I weighed in all weekend at 239.6 and had been there since Friday. I was pretty active on Saturday, like all day and I finally saw some movement on the scale this morning. I am down to 237.2. I can't wait to get into the 220's again. I haven't seen them for a while. I don't think people will notice until I get down to about that much. When they weighed me at Dr. Thropay's office, with clothes and all, I weighed in at 246. That was Thurs, March 25th. A lot of water weight I'm sure but I'm feeling my belly go down. So I am promising to work in at least an hour of workouts per day. I'm walking on my breaks and when I get home I'll really try and sneak in a walk, take my poor doggies for a walk. It was pouring rain earlier but it's gone down. I need to find the darn treadmill in our building though.....it gets hot in this area and although we now have showers...I don't really have all that time. Anyway...I'm all over the place today.
My sister is coming today or tomorrow. She was IN Ensenada when the 7.2 earthquake hit yesterday and my mom and dad are super worried about her. She called and said her and her 3 boys where ok. Hopefully they are....Alani and I got on our knees last night and prayed that they got here safely.
God Bless. Be back later this week.
LOL...I'm sure I've posted that title before...yep I'm sure. So it's been a long time...like 5 months or so. Not sure where to start....
I'll start with me finally making the decision to go see Dr. Thropay...ok well my husband made me go. For the past, I would say, 5-6 months I have been having the worst health problems EVER. Dr.'s don't seem to really even know what's wrong with me. I am on Blood pressure meds (several), Metformin for my PCOS and now progesterone and lots of it for menstrual issues. I've always been VERY VERY skeptical of Dr. Thropay although I've seen wonderful results in his patients. He's made people much better by just helping them with a healthy way of eating and adding necessary supplements.
With me, he diagnosed me with a Thyroid issue. Dr's ALWAYS suspect that I have a thyroid issue but blood tests and other tests always basically point to it not being a thyroid. So what do they do about it? Nothing. If the tests don't show anything then the dignosis is that there is nothing wrong with me. They just keep giving me various meds that make me more sick and I do not get better but actually worse.
I went to see him the first time last Thursday and in the end walked out with several supplements and after a lengthy meeting with a nutritionist, knowledge of what I needed to eat, where I could buy thing cheaper AND how to prepare it! It took me all weekend to really wrap my head around all this. I felt really overwhelmed on Saturday when planning my meals....I think I was just really doubting whether or not I could do this. I had to accept that this was my only option. I am now not eating Sugar, Flour, Soy anything, Peanuts, cashews, milk, cheese and yogurt and basically anything that has MSG or chemicals. I am taking Standard Process supplements which are Iodomere, Calcium, 1 Bucco drop in my water along with 1 drop of Pulmonest.
I have actually not taken my Progesterone and am reallllllly hoping I don't start bleeding like mad. It's only been one day. One horrid thing that I am experiencing are headaches.....last night I woke up to a very painful headache and I am hoping that it's not a regular occurrence. I actually got a really bad headache while at work yesterday and had to take Advil. I need to ask my nutritionist about taking stuff for my headaches and what can be causing them.
So I am documenting everything I am eating and my next visit with the Dr. is on Tuesday.
Till later, God Bless.
I think naturally, we all feel overweight after the holidays. Yesterday as I sat in church, I noticed HOW many people LOOKED uncomfortable in their church clothes. Some looked like their buttons were about to burst others like they just wanted to crawl into their jammies. Was I one of those people? Of course! I live to go home, change into my sweats and search for something comforting to eat.
So as I sat there and discreetly analized people, I whispered in my husbands ear, "I'm going to loose weight". He looked and me and nodded, I'm sure he though "yeah we'll see".
Surprisingly my weight loss "idea" was at the top of my agenda at 4am this morning. I thought of what/how/when I should start my weight loss venture. Tons of things went through my head. Unknowingly, I packed a healthy breakfast and my husband packed me a healthy lunch, leftovers from dinner last night, green low fat/carb enchiladas and beans (higher carbs but fills me up).
I thought of just basically cutting back. Like really cutting back....like...like making PAM my right hand cooking partner instead of all the Veggie oil I've been using lately. I want EVOO and PAM back!
It looks like my reason to loose weight is that I'm tired of seeing my puffed up face. I think my life in the next year will change significantly and for the better! I can't wait to move, loose weight and achieve several other goals/plans.
God Bless.
